JUNIOR Chambers International (JCI) alongside It Begins with You Foundation (IBWU) has donated palliative to the indigent of OKpoko community in Ogbaru LGA.

The gesture the group said was to ameliorate the effect of the lockdown caused by covid-19.

President of JCI, Valentine on behalf of the groups advised the people of the community on the necessity of face masks and the need to maintain social distance. “We chose this community because most of the people here are petty traders and they are most affected by the lockdown as they cannot go to the markets nor go to their farms.”

They distributed face masks which they wore as a way of leading by example even as they maintained social distance while distributing the palliative.

President-General of the community, Edwin Emesinna commended the organisations for their act of benevolence,” I thank you for this kind gesture, for remembering Okpoko people. I can assure you that we selected the less privileged amongst us to receive this palliative.”

Former liaison officer to Governor Willie Obiano, Ojiba Unogu, also commended and encouraged them to continue with the good works.

A beneficiary of the palliative Ndubuisi Obasi thanked God for the associations’ intervention and prayed that God will continue to bless them.

Another recipient of the palliative, Elder Ebeku said, “This lockdown has been very challenging for me and my family, nobody has come to our aid except you. We appreciate your effort.”
