Onitsha youths commend Obiano for palliative packages

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State has been commended for his welfare packages to the youths and elders in Onitsha to cushion the effect of COVID -19.

  Some of the beneficiaries which included Arewa, Yoruba and other tribes residing in Onitsha, Tuesday, smiled home with 50kg bags of rice.

  Earlier, elders in Onitsha North have benefitted from government palliative measures.

  Speaking before distributing the rice at Onitsha North Mini Stadium, the Transition Committee Chairman, Onitsha North Local Government Area, Agha Mba, said the inhabitants of Onitsha were happy with the welfare packages of the state government, stressing that 800 youths benefit from the palliative measures which cut across all the youths in Onitsha irrespective of tribe or religion.

  He also commended Obi Alfred Achebe for assisting the state government in alleviating the suffering of the masses due to the effect of lockdown of businesses.

  The chairman urged the youths to reciprocate the gesture of the government by complying with government directives of social distancing and ensuring the use of face masks. He further urged them to be of good behavior by avoiding anything that will make them enter into trouble especially as the world is experiencing difficult moment.

  In an interview, some of the beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude for this very act of the governor as Ibrahim Musa said he was elated at the magnanimity of the governor for extending the palliatives to non Igbos. He noted his business crippled since the past one month.

  Also, Amaechi Mba said it was only peculiar that Anambra is the only state that remembered youths. He thanked the governor and Igwe Alfred Achebe for their concern for the youths and their aged parents.
