Police arrest 42 curfew violators, impound eight vehicles in Anambra

FOLLOWING the presidential directive imposing dusk-to-dawn curfew all over the federation, police arrested 42 persons in Anambra State yesterday.

  Eight vehicles belonging to violators of the curfew were also impounded.

Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Haruna Mohammed, stated this in a press release today.

  According to him, the level of compliance has been satisfactory so far but Commissioner of Police, John B.Abang, enjoined the public to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies in order to enhance safety and security.

“Number of violators arrested is 42 and 8 vehicles impounded. Suspects were served with arraignment notice and granted bail,” he said.

  Meanwhile, residents of Awka and environs were seen yesterday night making frantic efforts to comply with the curfew by closing businesses earlier. There were also road blocks manned by security operatives along some major roads.
