ANAMBRA Newspapers and Printing Corporation (ANPC) workers returning back to work from COVID-1 9 pandemic sit-at-home have been charged to observe all hygiene rules toward containing the spread of coronavirus within and outside the corporation’s premises as they set for their routine work in the organisation.

In a welcome back speech, the Managing Director and CEO of the corporation, Sir Chuka Nnabuife stated the need for all staffers to help the state government in its efforts to contain the spread of the dreaded disease by observing all the directives to that effect. He prayed that no worker in the organisation would be infected with the dreaded pandemic.

“Do not dare the disease. It is a rule in Anambra State for all citizens to wear face mask. Even as you return to engage in your services in this organisation, you should observe in strict terms social distancing rule as well as regular hand washing.”

He emphasised that it will be wickedness on the part of any individual or group to put the lives of their fellow workers at risk by undermining the precautionary measures already in place at the corporation’s premises through sheer indiscipline or refusal to accept the reality of the pandemic.

He avowed that he would not back down on implementation of all the state government’s directives in the fight against the spread of the disease, even if he should be hated by disgruntled members in the organisation.

“I do not know my status; therefore, I should take more precautions. I will not allow anybody to endanger the lives of fellow staff, family as well as members of the community with the person’s obstinacy to compliance with simple directives.” Nnabuife vowed.

Appreciating the efforts of workers who put in extra performance by producing National Light Newspapers on daily basis for the past six weeks, he made it clear that they have shown real character in giving their services to the state unconditionally.

“From the responses of people calling to appreciate our products, you have added in your own way to the pride of the state in this particular brand.”

Sir Nnabuife charged all the departments of the organisation to stand up to their responsibility in earning, saving and being accountable in their operations.

He expressed concerns on the impact of the pandemic over state treasury and the likely shortage of funds it may trigger; assuring every worker that the humane administration of Governor Willie Obiano will always put the interests of workers in his heart as he has demonstrated overtime.

In a vote of thanks, National Light’s columnist, Polycarp Onwubiko thanked the Managing director, Sir Nnabuife, for his pragmatic leadership and great vision which all gave birth to today’s National Light newspapers, adding that ndi Anambra are beating their chest for the brand.
