Five coronavirus patients burnt to death in hospital

FIVE coronavirus patients were burnt to death in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a Russian hospital.

The accident happened today morning when fire broke out from a short-circuit in a ventilator.

According to Russian news agencies, the hospital is located in Vyborg district of St. Petersburg.

All five victims were connected to ventilators at the time of the inferno.

The country’s Ministry of Emergency Services disclosed that about 150 patients and staff were evacuated from the St. George City Hospital. Although they did not give definite figure of those injured, preliminary inquiries showed that an electric equipment malfunction and short-circuit failure were among the factors behind the fire.

It will be recalled that Russia is the third country with most COVID-19 cases globally, having recorded more than 221,340 confirmed cases and 2,009 deaths.
