MEMBERS of House of Representatives have called on the Federal Government to intervene and immediately halt the repatriation of the almajiri children to their states of origin.

This formed part of the resolutions of the lawmakers during today’s plenary at the lower chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.

They made the call following a motion sponsored by a member of the House, Aishatu Dukku.

According to Dukku, the repatriation of Almajiria children is against the fundamental human rights of any Nigerian to reside in any part of the country.

She also expressed concern over the mode of transportation the children were subjected to.

The lawmaker described it as dehumanising, stressing that the children were packed into a vehicle in the scorching sun.

The House also resolved to urge Northern governors to ensure that almajiri children were captured in Universal Basic and Technical Education System (UBTE).

Aishatu Duku, seems oblivious of the fact that the men huddling in those trucks cought at various locations heading south are neither children nor teenagers. For us in the south East of Nigeria this is an army of terrorists under the guise of Almajiri, taking advantage of the lockdown to occupy positions for imminent attacks in the South East. Otherwise, what will they be coming to do? To increase the number of northern- Nigeria beggars already on the eastern city streets or what, to compete in trade or education ? Suffice it to say they are amajirais, there are no nomadic schools in the south East to absorb those rejected by their parents, religion, state of origin and leaders. The people in the north can have and manage your amajirais in places within the north where mediocrity and lawlessness is constantly rewarded. The ulterior motive to all of these has failed before now and so, your trained terrorists masquerading as amajirais will be destroyed on every front as they attempt to execute their mission.
