Nkwelle Ezunaka Town Union sets up stakeholders’ forum

DETERMINED to render transparent and inclusive leadership, the newly elected executive committee of Nkwelle Ezunaka Town Union (NEU), in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, has inaugurated a stakeholders’ forum to help formulate policies for sustained peace and progress in the community.

    The President-General of NEU, Leonard Areh Onyenze, who convened the stakeholders’ forum, disclosed that the initiative was meant to galvanise all the past PGs of the union and serving chairmen and secretaries of the five villages in community to forge the way forward.

    Mr. Onyenze urged the participants to collaborate with the incumbent NEU leadership in articulating the best ideas on socio-economic and infrastructural development of the town as well as solutions to the sundry challenges facing the people, just as he briefed them on the activities of the new executive team since their election, on December 30, last year.

    He informed them that that major objectives of the parley were to review the situation of things and proffer suggestions on possible ways of generating funds for the upkeep of the union as well as execution of projects and programmes for improved welfare of the people.

    The PG however, frowned that the immediate past caretaker committee of the union had not fully handed over to the new executive team, pointing out that administrative records of the union were not properly documented as supposed. He thanked them for attending the crucial meeting even as he reaffirmed his commitment to transparent stewardship.

He further confirmed that the palliative packages of 200 bags of rice donated by Governor Willie Obiano for elders above 70 years and 400 bags for youths aged between 17 and 35 years were received and duly shared as directed to cushion the effects of the coronavirus .

    Mr. Onyenze thanked the governor for his fatherly concern for the welfare of Ndi Anambra and also commended some natives of the town who contributed various materials to the people, including Mr. Martin Anachuna and Miss Vivian Ekwensi, who donated 200 face masks each to the union.

    Among past PGs of NEU present at the meeting were Ogbuefi Luke Ononye, Ogbuefi Jimmy Odife, Ogbuefi Francis Ekwensi, Ogbuefi Rogers Aghadike, Ogbuefi Chris Eluemuno, the former Chief Press Secretary to ex-Governor Jim Nwobodo under old Anambra State, as well as Chief Ike Nnalue and Mr. Ben Igwemme, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who served as chairman of the first caretaker committee instituted by the state government.

   Other prominent personalities who participated at the parley were Dike Ndulue, first permanent secretary from the town, Ogbuefi Emma Ononye and other stakeholders, both of whom commended Mr. Onyenze for the wisdom and foresight in organising the parley with firm pledge to support him.
