Another COVID-19 pregnant woman delivers in Lagos

GBAGADA Isolation Centre, in Lagos State, South-west Nigeria has witnessed safe delivery of a baby by COVID-19 positive woman.

  The woman (name withheld) was diagnosed of the dreaded COVID-19 and has been delivered of a baby boy at the Centre, in Lagos.

  Disclosing this through its Twitter page, the Lagos State Ministry of Health announced the safe delivery of the baby; saying that both mother and baby are doing well.

  “A pregnant woman diagnosed with #COVID19 was delivered of a baby boy weighing 2.9kg by our frontline health workers here at Gbagada Isolation Centre. Both Mother and Baby are doing,” the statement reads in part.

  It will be recalled that since the coronavirus outbreak in the state, not less than three expectant mothers, diagnosed of the virus have given birth.

  Lagos State continues to be the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak in the country, with 2,550 confirmed cases so far, 608 discharged and 36 deaths recorded already, according to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control’s (NCDC) COVID-19 Update as at 1:00pm today, May 18, 2020.
