COVID-19: Abia confirms five new cases



THE state governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu  announced on Monday at a press briefing in Aba, that the state has recorded five new cases of coronavirus in the state bringing the total number of infected persons to six in the state.

   According to the governor, three of the cases are  three returnees from Lagos state, discovered in Ofeme, Afugiri and Olokoro areas of the state; he also added that the other two were residents of the state.

The governor believes that the fight against COVID-19 is one which requires every resident of the state to take responsibility and show leadership, he stressed the need for the total closure of all states  boarders and commitment of every person to follow rules especially those in charge of keeping the boarders of the state closed.

The governor also beackoned on all those who would have had contacts with the affected patients to come forward for testing; he noted that the Rapid Response Team has been directed to move into affected areas to identify contacts of the infected persons.

He also said that the state government is not deterred by the new cases, the state has the capacity to treat infected COVID-19 patients.
