Coronavirus: FG orders Muslims to observe Eid al-Fitr at home



THE Federal Government of Nigeria has directed Muslim faithful to observe 2020 Eid al-Fitr celebration in their various homes.

  The directive came on Tuesday following the persistent rise in number of COVID-19 cases in the country despite efforts of the government to contain the spread.

  The government said that it cannot risk taking the nation to a worse situation, insisting that the decision for Muslim faithful to observe the celebration at the end of the Ramadan fast in their homes should be seen as part of sacrifice the faith preaches.

  Giving the directives yesterday during PTF briefing, National coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, stated that the federal government will avoid all decisions that will worsen the situation of coronavirus in the country.

  The government said that it cannot risk taking the nation to a worse situation “The eid al Fitri celebration is an important milestone that we urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to observe in the safety of their homes.

  We’ve to make sure that whatever decision we make, we do not drag ourselves back to the beginning of the pandemic.” Aliyu said.
