THE ruling All Progressives Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party have fixed dates for primaries to pick candidates ahead of the October 2020 gubernatorial poll in Ondo State.
The date for the primaries was contained in a schedule of activities released in Akure by both political parties yesterday.
While APC will hold its primary election on July 20, according to its schedule signed by Organising Secretary of the party, Emma Ebediro, PDP will hold its own on July 22.
According to the notice signed by National Organising Secretary of PDP, Austine Akobundu, no fewer than eight aspirants are jostling for the governorship ticket of the PDP ahead of the gubernatorial election in the state.
Similarly, over 10 aspirants have showed interest to contest APC ticket with Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu. But the party directed interested aspirants to pay N22.5millio for the expression of interest and nomination forms.
In a related development, All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that all governorship aspirants in Edo State will pay N22.5 million as part of the requirements for contesting in the states’ governorship elections on Sept. 19 and Oct. 10.
This was disclosed in a timetable released in Abuja, yesterday, by APC National Organising Secretary, Emma Ibediro
It will be recalled that APC had slated its Edo governorship primary election to hold on June 22.
