COVID-19: Anambra hospitals to get free oxygen

AS part of efforts to cushion some hardships occasioned on state-owned businesses, Gov. Willie Obiano has ordered that general hospitals in Anambra State be provided with free oxygen for use in their intensive care units.

  The gesture is to cover the next two months with effect from today.

  A statement signed by the Managing Director of Anambra State Oxygen Production Plant, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, said the move is in line with Gov. Willie Obiano strategies to stimulate business activities and ameliorate patients’ sufferings during the pandemic.

  According to the governor, the order covers all primary and secondary healthcare centres in Anambra State. Interested hospitals are requested to apply to Commissioner for Health of Anambra State. 

  “Gov. Willie Obiano has directed that in line with the State’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all   General hospitals and Primary health care centres in the State who need Medical Oxygen should apply immediately through the office of the Honorable Commissioner for Health for onward collection free from the Anambra State Oxygen Production Plant, Amaku, Awka for two months with effect from Wednesday, May 27, 2020,” the statement reads.
