… Another kills  brother over beverage drink in Lagos

A 20- YEAR-OLD MAN, Chinwekpe Orogwu, has been arrested by Ebonyi State Police Command for allegedly clubbing his brother Ebubechi Orogwu to death over goat meat disagreement.

Confirming the incident, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah said the matter was reported to the police and has promptly been followed by arrest of the alleged culprit.

According to her, the incident happened at the victim’s compound in Amauda, Nzashi Ndufu Echara, Ikwo Local Government Area of the state where the family killed a goat.

The police was contacted through one Clement Nwofia, alleging the killing of one Orogwu Ebubechi by his brother, Chinwekpe Orogwu after hitting him on the head with wooden pole.

“The suspect claimed that the victim reportedly ate more of the goat intestine. The victim was rushed to Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, for treatment but he was confirmed dead.

“His body was deposited at Ikwo General Hospital while the suspect has been arrested.

“The matter is under investigation because we can’t believe that it was because of goat intestine that someone killed the brother”.

Anonymous family source said a goat was killed in their compound and some parts of the meat, including the intestines were given to Chinwekpe and his brother.

The duo were reportedly enjoying themselves with the meat when trouble ensued with Chinwekpe accusing his deceased brother, Ebubechi, of eating a greater portion of the delicacy. Irked by that, he grabbed a wooden pole close by and landed it on his brother’s head.

Neighbours rushed-in but it was too late as Ebubechi has collapsed. He was rushed to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki where he gave up the ghost.

In another development, one Chisom Eze has allegedly killed his 19-year-old brother, Henry, during a fight over a bottle of soft drink at their place of residence on Johnson Street, Alaba area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that 21-year-old Chisom lost his patience and stabbed his brother in the neck when he discovered that the soft drink he left in the house to attend to an issue had been drunk by Henry.

Their sister, who was reportedly present during the incident, raised the alarm and neighbours apprehended Chisom.

Efforts to rescue Henry proved abortive as he died of the injuries he sustained during the attack.

Footage of the incident, which was posted on Instablog9ja, showed the victim’s remains being taken out by wailing neighbours and sympathisers.

Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said, “Chisom stabbed his younger brother, Henry, to death because of a bottle of soft drink. He is currently in our custody while Investigation is ongoing.”
