Mgbuka Obosi Market fire victims get FG relief

FEDERAL Government of Nigeria on Tuesday, handed building materials to Anambra State government as support for the rebuilding of sections of Old Motor Spare Parks Market (Mgbuka), Obosi that were guttered by fire on January 11 this year.

  The official handing over of the materials was held at the premises of the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency in Awka.

  Federal Government through National Emergency Management Agency and represented by the South East Coordinator, Mr. Fred Anwusim, presented the items to the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke who represented Governor Willie Obiano.

  Receiving the items, Governor Obiano, represented by his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke, appreciated the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), for the support given to ndi-Anambra who lost their properties to the inferno.

  Materials donated include; 930 bags of Cement,930 Ceiling boards, 930 bundles of corrugated roofing sheets and other roofing accessories.

  South East Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Fred Anusim, said that they began their assessment on the cause of the fire on January 14, and after investigations the Director General NEMA, approved relief materials for Mgbuka Obosi, which would be handed over to the victims.

  “The items include 930 bags of cement, 930  bundles of ceiling board (roofing sheet), zinc nails and roofing nails, to be distributed to the Mgbuka Obosi fire victims, which could go a long way in rebuilding the market” Anusim informed.
