He told the delegation that government had commenced the process of land allocation and development for the purposes of establishing the park for petroleum products trucks.

The commissioner, who had just resumed after a minor cabinet reshuffle, noted that he was in contact with his counterpart at the Ministry of Lands for immediate allocation and possible take-off of the project, being requested by the group.

While describing the group as critical stakeholders in the transport sector, said he was optimistic of having cordial working relationship with them.

He even urged them to always pay premium on issues of road safety.

Earlier, Leader of the Depot Community, Chinedu Anyaso, said members of the group cut across different bodies including Petroleum Dealers Association (PEDAN) and Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN).

According to him the visit is to formally felicitate with him on his new assignment, praying for God’s wisdom to enable him to succeed.

Mr Anyaso identified benefits of constructing the proposed park to include, prompt collection of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to boost the state’s economy as well as job creation.

He, then, pleaded with government to expedite action on the project to also save their members from risks associated with parking trucks laden with petroleum products on roadsides.
