Notable individuals in Anambra State have continued to warn those saying that  coronavirus it is a scam to desist from deceiving the people. One of them is the special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Political Matters,  Udoji Okoye

Okoye, who spoke to newsmen on Wednesday, in Awka, described it as a politics of calumny and warned the politicians to desist from playing politics with the lives of Anambra people.

He stressed that the whole rumour is a calculated plan and effort of the opposition party in the state to discredit the incumbent administration.

“Everything in Anambra State is politics to the opposition parties, mostly the PDP, who are playing politics with the people’s lives just because they want power without ideology.

“Gov. Willie Obiano has done tremendously well in all aspects. Anambra people are happy with him. Right from his first term to this second term, all his campaign promises have been fulfilled. And he is still doing more to the administration of good people of Anambra.

“Before Anambra recorded COVID-19 index case on April 9,2020, Gov Obiano had made some commendable arrangements that would help the state fight the pandemic: He provided facilities-protective care centers with world-class equipment across the three senatorial zones in the state to make sure that the lives of Anambra people are safe. He distributed over 3,000,000 face masks to communities in the state; gave each community 600 bags of rice , so what PDP people are fighting is because of the next year’s election. That is why they are on this politics of calumny, he noted.

7 Hon Okoye attributed the low compliance to the government directives as regards measures to contain the spread of the pandemic as a mere ignorance on the part of the people and advised the Anambrians to understand the fact that covid 19 is real.

Speaking on the on-going industrial action by the medical doctors, Okoye wondered why the striking doctors should forget the cardinal tenet of their profession this time Nigerians need them the most and called on the doctors to drop the idea of strike now the novel virus is threatening humanity.

“ Medical doctors should Know that the lives of people are in their hands, their calling is to take care of human life. The profession is a call from God; it is not by their power. The knowledge they acquired is to help save lives, so the idea of industrial action now should be dropped.

He further advised the federal government to take the complaints of the medical doctors seriously.
