Protesters picket Imo Govt House

A group of pensioners launched a protest at the Imo State Government House in Owerri over unpaid allowance and stipends.

The protesters blocked the Okigwe roundabout leading to the Imo State government house in protest over alleged refusal of the state government to  pay pension.

Chairman of the Committee on Pension intervention of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Mr Ohanaeje Ike disclosed to newsmen that they have done everything possible to get Governor Hope Uzodinma to pay their pensions all to no avail.

Ohanaeje, accussed the Imo State governor of insensitivity, noting that 42 of the union’s members have died between February and May as a result of hardship.
