Obiano lauded for taking proactive measures on COVID-19



ACHIEF Taskforce Officer of Fairy Used Motorcycles and New Dealers Association (FUMNDA) in Nnewi, Sunday Okechukwu Okoli has commended Governor Willie Obiano for listening and responding rapidly is their plight of traders in the pandemic era, by lifting the lockdown for them to go back to their businesses, saying that the task force has ensured full compliance to COVID-19 protocols in the market.

  Speaking on how COVID- 19 has affected businesses and families, he said that it has not been easy spending without income as the lockdown affected movements and interstate travels, adding that it is a general experience the world over.

  “Our economy was totally shut down since our business rely much on importation but now, we are so happy and very thankful to our listening governor because some states are still under the lockdown and restricted movements, including curfew from dusk to dawn.

  On their achievements so far in the market, he said there used to be congested and blocked drainages giving rise to dirty environment. “All those are now history because the present leadership has made it a priority to listen and serve their members. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Then on the issue of security, there is no more everyday stealing. There is tight security and if any is caught, we usually hand them over to the security agents.

  He thanked the governor for also setting up the taskforce, saying it has been of help to minimise the nonchalant attitude of some people that pose as treats to others. I want my fellow businessmen to keep to the rules. “That is why we insist that without face mask, you cannot enter our business premises. The government has done well by creating awareness for the taskforce to be taken to grassroots. Finally is this market, our cleanup is every Thursday as from 7 o’clock in the morning to 10 o’clock in the morning and we are complying to the World Health Organisation’s rules on coronavirus precautionary measures”.
