Border Reopening : FRSC Enforces Compliance To COVID-19 Protocols, Inspects Motorparks In Anambra

Following the lifting of ban on inter-state travels by the government of the federation on July 1st, 2020 , the Federal Road Safety Corps has commenced tour of motoparks in Anambra state to ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

The organization also began inspection of the parks to ensure that fleet operators, drivers and commuters alike did not contravene governnent directives on reopening of borders as well as resumption of inter-state movements.

FRSC sector commander in Anambra state Mr.Andrew Ayodele Kumapayi on Thursday, stated that it was obligatory that the corps carried out that the inspection tour and enforcement to guide motorists and commuters on the right approach to the situation amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Kumapayi who was at TRACAS park Awka , Ekwulobia Mass Transit park Awka on Thursday, admonished fleet operators and drivers to adhere strictly to federal government’s approved number of passengers on a row to maintain social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols.

He said, ” following the lifting of the ban on interstate travels by the Federal Government and the subsequent resumption of activities at Public and Private Motor Parks nationwide, we deemed it necessary to begin inspection of Motor Parks across the State, to ensure that Fleet Operators follow diligently all hygiene protocols to prevent further spread of Corona Virus.”

” We have seen that there are emphasis on provision of hand washing facilities and alcohol based hand sanitizers, use of passengers manifest, compliance with social distancing, loading of passengers and wearing of face mask by drivers and passengers.”

” We have directed the Motor Park Operators to ensure all safety measures highlighted in the COVID-19 protocols are strictly adhered to, in order to contain further spread of the pandemic.
The exercise continues tomorrow.”

Meanwhile the Sector Public Education Officer, Mr.Paschal Anigbo told our correspondent that the inspection tour continues tomorrow at Okeyson Park, Peace Mass Transit Park and other motorparks across Anambra state.
