COVID-19 tips: Maintaining a healthy life during the pandemic



  Stay active :- If the gym are not open, there is a lot of activities to getting physical exercise, without going against the preventive best practices, recommended by NCDC like avoiding large crowds and keeping to social distancing. Examples include Aerobics which can be done at home. Going for a brisk walk or jog round your house. Push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks and more exercises are a ways to stay fit away from the gym.

  Adequate sleep* :- Good sleep is essential to our overall health, it should be noted that it helps to improve our immune and defense system. An adult of ages 18 to 60 years should endeavor to get between 7 or more hours of sleep per night.

  Diet and nutrition* :- practicing self discipline and avoiding emotional eating, due to stress that maybe related to drastic change in our ways of living due to the lock down. It is advisable that we go for whole foods like dark, leafy greens, oranges and tomatoes which are loaded with vitamins fibers and minerals. Therefore it is advisable to eat those instead of snacks or fast foods.

*Self-care* :- take time to take good care of yourself. By meditating, relaxing, having quality time with family, because personal care of yourself promotes overall wellness.

*Health care maintenance:- if you have drugs prescribed for any medical condition like hypertension, diabetes, asthma and so on or any other chronic conditions, endeavor to take your drugs as prescribed, and if you want health provider to intervene, it’s better you do that by making a call.

  Coping with stress and anxiety*:-positive coping mechanisms includes exercise, meditation, reading, and further developing skills or hobbies and so on. It is better to use this era, to increase your daily repetition of these daily activities and develop new and even better routines that one can adhere to even after the pandemic.

  Stay connected with friends and family*:- time to utilize the multitude of technologies and apps that can help you stay in touch with those you love. This is modern capabilities for fellowship, companionship and camaraderie.
