Eze calls for dredging of River Niger, pledges support

A PHILANTHROPIST, Arthur Eze has pledged to use his contact to the presidency to hasten the dredging of the River Niger,  to create a viable port which will enhance international commerce for the welfare of Igbo people.

  The billionaire oil and gas business magnet made the pledge at the palace of  Igwe Peter Uyanna of Ukwulu, in Dunukofia Local Government Council Area of Anambra State when traditional rulers gathered to commend President Muhammadu Buhari for the landmark projects being executed in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, the philanthropist also known as Eze N’Ukpo expressed appreciation to the royal fathers for their efforts in striving to maintain peace in their respective communities while assuring ndi Anambra that he would continue to use his close contact to the presidency to be attracting developmental projects to uplift the living standard of the people.

The renowned philanthropist, who made reference to the recently commissioned Zone 13 Zonal Police Command at Ukpo, advised that people should be restrained from making uncomplimentary remarks about President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, “Buhari has demonstrated love for our people as compared to the two former presidents in actualising the realisation of the second Niger Bridge, high quality work on the rehabilitation of Enugu to Port Harcourt and Enugu to Onitsha express ways, in addition to Enugu Airport being modernised to international standard.

Describing Onitsha market as “an icon”, Eze N’Ukpo pledged his commitment to hasten the execution of the dredging of the River Niger for a viable port as it will help Igbo business men in the international trade and commerce.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the traditional ruler of Ukwulu, Igwe Peter Uyanna, who extolled  Prince Arthur Eze for the developmental projects he attracted to the state, described him as “a one man government and a gift from the Almighty God to the Igbo people”.

Traditional rulers who made brief remarks were full of praises for the oil and gas business magnet for harping on the necessity for regular local government council election to accelerate socio-economic and political growth and development to the grass-root level.

In an exclusive interview with media men at his palatial residence, Ozo Igbo Ndu extolled the rare quality of the  president. “ Buhari is a different human being who does not recognise friends in his anti-corruption crusade, that is why I don’t engage in corrupt practices,. He is building the best road in Africa, in Anambra State and he is the only northerner that has demonstrated commitment to the dredging of the River Niger. I will pursue the implementation”, he assured.

On the clarion calls for president of Igbo extraction, Arthur said that he had no objection but would not mind a president who will care for the general interest of the entire country.
