Illegal structures on govt land in Isuaniocha marked for demolition

ILLEGAL structures erected on lands belonging to government in Isuaniocha in  Awka North Local Government Area have been marked for demolition.

Some of the areas that may be affected by the demolition exercise include structures illegally constructed around the premises of Community Secondary School, Isuaniocha, and other lands neighbouring it.

The action followed numerous acts of encroachment being largely carried on by faceless individuals and land speculators in Isuaniocha and neighbouring towns from where individuals enter these government lands, parcellate and sell them off to private developers.

But government made efforts to halt these acts of trespass during which the state instituted a panel of enquiry on the matter. The panel’s report suggested reclamation of all government lands in the area by Anambra State Physical Planning Board (ANSPPB).

An eye witness account said that Chairman of ANSPPB, Chike Maduekwe, led officials of the Board to mark these illegal structures for immediate removal from the land on which they were built.

Members of the public were advised to make enquiries and exert due diligence before buying land situated near to any school. This is to ensure that such transaction is genuine and avoid parting their money to unscrupulous land speculators.
