THE 10,000-capacity Anambra International Conference Centre (AICC) Agu-Awka will be ready for commissioning before the year runs out.

Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano made the promise during an inspection visit to the complex currently under construction. The governor was represented by Deputy Gov. Nkem Okeke who was on hand to take delivery of the roofing materials arriving from Lagos.

According to him, the complex is not only massive but also one of the legacy projects Gov. Obiano wishes to leave behind at the end of his second tenure.

He also described the facility as the largest in the country.

“This would attract foreign investors as well as conventions and conferences to our state. The governor is doing everything to commission the project by the end of this year. He wants to make it ready for use,” Okeke said.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Housing Arc. Mike Okonkwo, said the long awaited arrival of the steel roof members of this magnificent project has become a reality.

According to Okonkwo, the project’s superstructure is all but completed and interior designing would begin soon.

Manager of the site, Abiola Kolawole, said they have come to witness the arrival of 56 units of 40-feet containers for the steel roofing materials.

“We have about 15 containers on ground containing 1,300 tons of the steel roof members. We are working hard all day to ensure that we deliver,” Kolawole assured.

The Project Manager also commended Gov. Obiano for his support and keen interest in project and assured the project will be delivered according to specifications.
