‘NDDC misappropriated over N6b COVID-19 palliative funds’

A PETITION has been addressed to the Senate alleging that the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission mismanaged N6.25bn set aside for COVID-19 palliatives.

  The petition was conveyed in a letter dated August 3, 2020 in which Chairman of the NDDC COVID-19 Palliatives Committee, Sobamabo Jackrich, described the management of the funds as “a show of shame and a scam.”

  According to him, the money was “misappropriated and embezzled by IMC of NDDC and their co-conspirators.

  “My findings is not only that the money cannot be accounted for,” he added, “but there is nothing on ground to show that the 6.2 billion naira of our hard-earned taxpayers money was invested for its original purpose which the President approved,” he said.

  Jackrich also asked National Assembly to probe and investigate the IMC, which is led by Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei.
