THE Federal Government has warned citizens not to mistake recent drop in COVID-19 cases in the country as victory, noting that 684 people evacuated from different countries tested positive to COVID-19.

Presidential Taskforce committee Chairman on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, who gave the warning during media  briefing in Abuja yesterday, urged Nigerians to be responsible so that the country can build on its success.

According to the SGF a total number of 14,906 persons have been evacuated so far from over ten different countries. Out of this number, 13,844 evacuees have undergone coronavirus test and 684 evacuees tested positive.

“It may interest you to note that of the 14,906 evacuees received during this COVID-19 pandemic, close to 80 per cent are youths for which we are glad that only 684 tested positive to the coronavirus out of the 13,844 so far tested.” Mustapha said.

Continuing, “in the coming days, we hope to receive more evacuees from different parts of the world,”

The PTF boss however, warned that the drop in the COVID-19 case nationally should never be misconstrued as the victory over the virus.
