SUV gifts: Monarchs pray for Obiano, Anambra

A wave of prayers and encomiums has been showered on Gov. Willie Obiano for his kind gesture of distributing brand new SUV utility vehicles jeeps to all monarchs in the state.

Expressing delight over the development, the traditional ruler of Agulu, in Anaocha LGA, Igwe Innocent Obodoakor, said the novel gesture represents the generosity of the governor while urging Dr. Obiano to bequeath ndi Anambra the best legacy of handing over power to an ideal successor, who would also share his kind of passion for humanity and sustain his current tempo of performance in the state.

He also endorsed the choice of ‘Innoson’ brand of air-conditioned SUV jeeps, according to him, eloquently demonstrated the governor’s genuine interest in patronising local industrialists, saying, “the vehicles compare quite favorably with international standards and even better than imported ones due to better quality axles.”

Igwe Elias Nneli of Umueje, in Ayamelum Local Government Area, also baring his mind in gratitude for the governor’s largesse, corroborated that “the ‘Innoson’ SUV jeeps rank among the best because we are still driving the first batch of ‘Innoson’ jeeps donated to us by former Governor Obi since seven years ago, in 2013, and these new ones are latest model and very good too,” just as he prayed for God’s abundant blessings on the governor and his team.

The traditional ruler of Ebenebe, in Awka North LGA, Igwe Chris Nnaegbunam (Igah), felt deeply overwhelmed by the governor’s humanitarian disposition and lauded his resourceful and dynamic stewardship which portended all-round human and infrastructural development of the state by the incumbent Obiano administration, urging continued maximum support by all and sundry to enable him continue to deliver lofty dividends of democracy to the masses.

It will be recalled that traditional rulers in Anambra State were presented with 130 brand new sports utility vehicles (SUVs) by Gov. Willie Obiano last Friday in Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.

National Light gathered that the vehicles all manufactured in Anambra State by the Nnewi-based indigenous automobile production firm, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) company, were gifts originally assembled for the royal fathers before the COVID-19 lockdown for all the traditional rulers in the state.

Speaking while handing over the 130 SUVs’ keys to the Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council and Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, on behalf the monarchs, Gov. Obiano said that the gesture is part of government’s continuous commitment to welfare of traditional rulers in the state.

According to him, monarchs deserve the better living standing which they have been enjoying since inception of his administration in reciprocation of their role in social, religious and cultural mobilisation as well as security of lives and property at community levels.

Thanking Gov. Obiano while receiving the keys, Igwe Achebe urged his colleagues to be loyal to constituted authority. He pledging their unalloyed support to the government.
