Man who killed his mother, children was insane – Uruagu Nnewi PG­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­



PRESIDENT General, Uruagu Nnewi Development Union, Charles Nwonye,  has said that one Mr. Emeka Ezimadu of Okpunoeze quarters, Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, who slaughtered his aged mother and two children, in the night of Thursday, September 17, was mad.

  Nwonye made the revelation last week  while interacting with our reporter in his country home Nnewi.

  He said: “The man in question is my relative. He was previously mad some 15 years ago; but after undergoing treatment, he became normal before he got married.

   “So, three days ago, the ailment returned, and yesterday, he woke up late in the night, picked a matchet and started butchering his family members.

  “His wife escaped with one of his sons; but his aged mother and two children were confirmed dead; while two others are in critical conditions in a hospital here in Nnewi.”

  Recall that a 47-year-old man, identified as Emeka Ezimadu, from Uruagu quarters of Nnewi, Anambra State, reportedly went berserk in the night of last Thursday, and massacred his family members.

   It was gathered that Mr. Ezimadu, who allegedly ran amok, attacked and killed two of his biological children namely: Ifechukwu, 9; Mmeso, 2, and his own mother, Agnes, 85; with a cutlass, while they were asleep.

   It was gathered that he also used the same weapon to injure his three other children, namely: Nonso, 12 ; Chinaemerem, 11, and Ngozi, 8.

   When our reporter visited Akwudo Hospital in Nnewi, it was discovered that one of the children receiving treatment was recovering; while the other, a boy, was in very critical condition.

   Ndidiamaka, mother of the children who was also cited by our reporter in the hospital, was crying and refused to make any comment.

   When contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, also confirmed the development.

   According to him, “the incident took place last Thursday night, at about 11:55pm.

   “Police detectives from Nnewi Division visited the scene and rushed victims to the Akwudo Hospital, Nnewi, for medical attention, where the two children and the aged mother were certified dead by a medical doctor; while the other children are receiving treatments,” he stated
