Tears as sewage truck kills 8-yr-old-boy, injures others in Enugu



IT WAS all tears for some residents of Enugu as a sewage truck ran into a Block Rosary Centre killed  an eight-year old boy, Edeh Chidera and injured  others.

  The painful incident which occurred at Ebony Paint Road, in Garki Enugu, left at least seven children hospitalised and in critical condition.

  The children were said to be praying at the Block Rosary Center around 6pm when a sewage truck in high speed lost control and crashed into the  Block Rosary Centre.

  According to residents of the area who knew the driver, the driver is known to always be on high speed on the busy road.

  One of the  eyewitnesses who spoke to National Light, said, ” the deceased was praying at the Block Rosary Center in front of his aunt’s hair salon with other children when suddenly, a sewage truck crashed into the scene, throwing little Chidera  to a wall where he hit his back.  The other seven children were unconscious but Chidera was much awake and I told him to Keep shouting Jesus, Jesus and say nothing will happen with me. They were then rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died few minutes after. “.

  The driver was said to have immediately fled the scene of the accident and reported himself to the police.

  The young child was buried the next day at his hometown in Amuri, Enugu State, by his parents and other siblings while those at the hospital  are recuperating.
