Police nab woman, others for stealing five-month old baby



EIGHT persons including three women have been arrested by the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Police for swindling over 300 persons in Igboho town of close to N3 million.

 The suspects, according to the Commissioner of Police, Nwachuckwu Ewonwu operate under a name, Noble City Global Concept, registered the unsuspected customers with N1,500 and urged them to make a weekly contribution of N7,000 to enable them benefit N300,000.

  The leader of the gang, Kola Oyejobe, the secretary, Mrs Romoke Oladipupo and an agent, Miss Damilola Adejumo explained that they chose the town because of the low level of education of the residents in Igboho.

 Also paraded was a 24 year old woman, Maryam Jamiu who traveled down to Ibadan from Ilara Mokin, Ondo State to steal a five month old baby from her friend’s neighbour.

  Mrs Jamiu said she perpetrated the act because of threat from her husband and his family due to her inability to get pregnant.

  The Oyo State Police Command has paraded suspected criminals arrested in different parts of the state, including suspected bandits/kidnappers who operated from the Old Oyo Forest Reserve on the Igbeti/Kisi Road in Oke-Ogun

  Speaking during the parade of the suspects at the Police headquarters Ibadan,  the state Commissioner of Police, Nwachukwu Enwonwu, said the arrest of the suspected bandits followed three days of combing the Kishi forest by operatives of the command and vigilance group members

  The Commissioner of Police encouraged residents of Oyo State to continue to partner the police to rid the state of criminals.
