Anambra Assembly suspends plenary indefinitely over #EndSARS unrest

THE Anambra State House of Assembly has suspended its plenary scheduled for today  October 27, 2020, over the spate of insecurity across the nation due to the EndSARS social unrest which recently turned bloody coupled with lootings and vandalisation of public and private assets.

  Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Information and Public Enlightenment, Okechukwu Okoye, who disclosed this to our correspondent via a telephone chat, said the suspension became inevitable following panic and pandemonium in the atmosphere due to recent developments from the nationwide EndSARS protests.

  Okoye further disclosed that a new date for resumption of plenary would be communicated but the in the interim, security of lives and property were of Paramount importance.

  He said, “The sitting for tomorrow has been suspended till further notice. No date yet for resumption. A new date will be communicated later.

  We need to find a solution to the existing problem in the state and the nation because the lives and property of every Anambra citizen is more important.”

  The lawmaker however extolled the governor’s dexterity in handling the situation in Anambra, pointing out that it was the responsibility of every citizen to protect the properties of the state from internal and external aggressions.

  Okoye who emphasised that there was need for everyone to support the governor in his determination to have the situation under firm control, observed also that the youths have been pushed to the wall but destruction of infrastructures, according to him, doesn’t worth it at all.
