Osodieme bags NOUN’s excellence award



WIFE of Anambra State Governor and founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE), Dr. (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano has been conferred with an Amazon Award for Excellence of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

NOUN said the honour was bestowed on the governor’s wife in recognition of her continued support to life transforming institutions and the society at large.

Speaking at  Abagana NOUN Study Centre, where the event was held as part of activities to mark 2020 Health Week of Community Health Nurses, Mrs. Obiano, who was represented by Special Adviser to  Gov. Obiano on Health, and  Executive Secretary of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, congratulated the nursing graduates of the at the institution, describing nursing as a noble profession to be held in high esteem.

“The noble profession of nursing is one that over the years and indeed over the centuries, has come to be well-recognised, especially in the health sector. I also commend the Director of Awka Study Centre, Dr. Scholastica Ezeribe for her dedication to duty in ensuring that the students are focused and active in learning,” she said.

Osodieme also seized the event to enjoin students to rededicate themselves to their studies, notwithstanding distance and work pressures.

Earlier in an address of welcome, Director of NOUN, Awka Study Centre, Dr. Ezeribe, expressed her gratitude to the governor’s wife for gracing the occasion, despite her tight schedules.

According to Ezeribe, this demonstrates the seriousness being committed to healthcare delivery in the state by the Gov. Willie Obiano-led administration.

She also extolled Osodieme for doing many exploits that won national and international recognitions for Anambra State under the auspices of CAFÉ.

Also speaking, chairman of the occasion, Prof. Lawrence Ikeakor, advised the graduating nurses to be focused while discharging their duties as certified nurses.

Prof. Ikeakor also expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Obiano for her efforts at ensuring that the less privileged were well taken care of, particularly in rehabilitation of mentally challenged people.
