IN a bid to promote entrepreneurship as a poverty alleviation scheme, a UN recognised international foundation, Hult Prize Foundation will host an entrepreneur competition for her members in the Chike Okoli Center for Entrepreneurial Studies,  Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, on  Saturday.

The campus director of the Hult Prize Foundation, UNIZIK Branch, Avah Somtochukwu, disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit to Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation( (ANPC), Awka, publishers of  National Light, Ka O Di Taa and Sportslightxtra to create awareness and seek partnership with  the media house.

Mr Somtochukwu said: “Hult Prize is a community of young people who are dedicated to change the world by educating and inspiring them in the line of entrepreneurship. There are various stages in Hult Prize, which are the campus, regional, accelerator and global finals. Hult Prize is in 109 campuses in Nigeria”.

He gave an insight on the forthcoming entrepreneurial event that will hold at UNIZIK which is themed ‘The Ultimate Pitch’. He further said, “in this event, the trained students will come and pitch their ideas. There will be judges who will analyse their ideas and the winners of the competition will advance to the regional stage.” He also stated that the event is in accordance with the UN’s 17 developmental yearly goals which are tagged ‘Food For Good,’ whose aim is to use food to solve problems  as a business; rather than using food as just a traditional means of survival.

On why he chose to come to ANPC, he explained that the corporation is closer to UNIZIK and  to ndi Anambra .

MD/CEO of ANPC, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, welcoming the foundation  said that Anambra State was a state that is known for her entrepreneurial prowess. “Ndi-Anambra do not really worry themselves in looking for blue collar, white collar jobs or political appointments. Instead, they engage in entrepreneurial activities; so this is a welcomed development”.

Highlight of the event included presentation of certificate of recognition to National Light Newspapers.
