In Imo, police arrest killers of Oguzie



POLICE officers in Imo State, who were involved in extra-judicial killing of one Mr. Nmezi Jude Oguzie, popularly known as Barrister have been arrested and detained in the state police headquarters, Owerri.

  Barrister was shot dead by a police officer of the Operation Stop And Search Squad along Orlu-Owerri Road, while he was driving in his Camry car with a registration number, WER 212 SQ, heading to Owerri just to attend a wedding ceremony before the tragedy struck. He was said to have been rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri, where he was ignored by health workers and he died in his pool of blood.

  Imo State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO),  Orlando Ikuku disclosed to newsmen of the arrest and detention of the trigger happy cops while confirming the incidence.

  The PPRO quoted the State Police Commissioner, Isaac Akinmoyede as not happy on the activities of police officers who do not hold strictly on the ethics of the police work, According to Mr. Ikoku, the commissioner has ordered full scale investigation on the matter with a view to unraveling the true cause of the loss of human life.

  The C.P. while sympathising with the family of the deceased urged them to remain calm, even though it is painful, promising that the command will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that justice is done on the matter.

  The command therefore regrets the killing of the young man, no matter the guise, especially now the police authority is doing everything possible to stop outrages in police operations. He said that human life was sacred and could only be taken by God alone, especially in the case of law abiding citizens.
