Truck crashes into commuter bus in Benue, kills 13

NO fewer than 12 persons have been killed in an auto crash along Otukpo-Adoka Road in Benue State yesterday evening.

  The accident involved an articulated truck and an Abuja-bound commercial vehicle.

  Since the near completion of Oweto Bridge, most vehicles from the Eastern part of the country and Benue ply the Otukpo-Adoka-Oweto Road to Abuja.

  According to an eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Sunday, said the articulated truck lost control, rammed into the fully-loaded bus going to Abuja and killed 13 people.

  “No one knew where the bus was coming from. But the accident happened around evening. Among the deceased were a mother and her three kids between the ages of three, five and seven, who were traveling on the bus. Only few persons survived the accident,” Sunday said.

  Benue State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mohammed Suleiman confirmed the accident. But he said that the 12 people were killed and six injured.
