The remains of the late Ichie Cyprian Onyemeke Osundu, popularly known as Ezeudoka Amesi has been laid to rest in Umuocha Village Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Before his death at the age of 92, Sir Ezeudoka spent his life time in Abakpa Nike, Enugu State and was the first secretary general of his town for about 20 years.
As a knights of St. Mulumba and good follower of Christ, he accommodated seminarians and provided for them. He was a great man of honour and dignity known for his tremendous works towards humanity in Amesi and beyond.
His funeral attracted personalities, clergymen, Rev. Sisters, Knights and Ladies, Ndi Ichie, Amesi Improvement Union, Enugu Branch, in-laws among others who strictly adhered to COVID- 19 protocols.
Speaking to the press, son of the deceased, Chukwuemeka Osondu described his late father as a humble man, honest, and jovial who loved everyone and attended morning Mass till he became very sick.
“My father was very religious, honest and a peacemaker as his name implies. He did not discriminate anybody but was involved in peace making efforts to help children to attend schools, groomed them and also went to convince their parents of the need to send them to school just to mention but very few of his impacts towards humanity”.
Chukwuemeka further said that having known his late father so well, he would like to be as religious as he was and expressed his gratitude to friends and associates who came to commiserate with them.
Also in an interview, Grand Knight of St Theresa’s Up Council Enugu, Prof. Franic Ochor described the late Osondu as a worthy brother Knight who exhibited all the virtues of the knighthood. He urged his children to keep on the light their late father left for them.
“He devoted his time, talent and treasure. He was very humorous, full of ideas and unassuming. So, we really miss him today. Life is a transition and I will advice that in whatever we do, let us know that we are travelers and someday, we will leave this earthly world”, he said.
