Anambra monarchs partner ACSDA in Nigeria CARES Program implementation

Traditional rulers in Anambra State are set to partner the state’s Community and Social Development Agency in implementing the Nigeria CARES program for results.

This was made known in a three day Sensitisation workshop on Nigeria COVID- 19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus( NG CARES), held at IDK Learning Center, Awka.

The event attracted traditional rulers and presidents general from Anambra North, South and Central Senatorial Zones of the state.

Speaking during the meeting, the traditional ruler of Nteje and board chairman of the agency, Igwe Roland Odegbo pointed out that the Nigeria CARES in context and rationale for World Bank support would go a long way to safeguard or sheld the effects of poverty and vulnerability level which according to him, is supposed to ameliorate the hardship associated with COVID- 19 pandemic.

He enumerated other challenges the program would solve which includes; non labour income (remittance), food insecurity, among others.

In his remarks, the General Manager of the agency, Mr Chudi Muojekwu, stated that the sensitisation workshop would go a long way in supporting poor and vulnerable families, firms and farmers affected by COVID- 19 and promising that they would work hard for the program to succeed.

In their seperate appreciations on the efforts of the World Bank, a member of the board, Prince Chris Azor and
the operation manager, Uche Nwaizugbo, thanked Nigeria CARES for their support and called on the traditional rulers to ensure they shortlist the names of their vulnerable households that face challenges in their various communities’ social register during the COVID-19 pandemic era.

Earlier in their contributions, some traditional rulers, Igwe Pius Omachonu from Olumbanasaa,Igwe Ben from Umueri, Igwe Sunday Okafor of Okpuno ,Igwe Charles Agbala from Uke, Igwe Conel John Onebunne from Akwaihedi, Igwe Emmanuel Onyeneke of Ekwuluobia and igwe Peter Ezeamama from Enugwu Umuoyia thanked the state government and the agency for organising the largesse especially now that some households have witnessed a lot of devastation .

Also, the royal fathers promised to work in association with the presidents general of their communities to identify the poorest of the poor and as well, ensure that they all benefit from the federal government and World Bank largesse for improved living standard.
