PDP asks DSS to probe Pantami for alleged links with Al-Qaeda, Taliban

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately question Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, over alleged links with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

  The party, the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) and some concerned Nigerians have also demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari sack the minister without further delay, given the sensitivity of the issue at stake.

  In a statement on Sunday, by the spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said its position was predicated on the heightening concerns in the public space and in the international arena of possible compromises by the Communication Minister.

  It noted that Pantami had access to sensitive government documents and information, in addition to data of all individuals including high profile personalities in the public and private sectors as well as the traditional and faith-based circles.

  The party stressed that the alleged affiliations with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda is very sensitive and they also highlighted concerns in the public space and in the international scene of possible compromises by the Communication Minister, who has access to sensitive government documents and information, in addition to data of all individuals including high profile personalities in the public and private sectors as well as the traditional and faith-based circles.
