Anambra youths present N22million cheque to umeoji

Anambra Progressives Youth Initiative has presented a cheque of N22million to one of the most outstanding aspirants of the November 6 governorship election in the state, Chief Chukwuma Umeoji under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

   Presenting the cheque at his party house, opposite   Anambra State Government House in Awka, National President of the group, Anthony Nchekwube said that the gesture came out of their unalloyed magnanimity to support Chief  Umeoji to purchase the Governorship Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms at the National Secretariats of APGA, Abuja.

   The president, who said that the money was contributed by the members of the group, assured that the group would also be at the National Secretariat of APGA, where Chief Umeoji would pick the Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms.

   Chief Nchekwube ,who narrated before journalists and the group how they formally went to Chief Umeoji close to a year and seven months and pleaded with him to come out and contest for the November 6  governorship race under APGA, maintained that they have been supporting him since then, having obliged their request, including construction of billboards  and posters in various strategic places of the state.

    Chief Nchekwube, who described, Chief Umeoji as the best among equals to govern the state, also described him as a humble, God fearing courageous and gentle man, calling on the people of the state to come out in their numbers and join them in supporting Chief Umeoji to ensure that he secure the governorship ticket and thereafter become the next governor of the state.

     He noted that their decision was informed because of the confidence they found in Chief Umeoji and his courage to manage the affairs of the state, if elected the next governor of the state, saying that Chief Umeoji has won elections  for three times in the state and has the capacity to not just win the primary election, but also qualifies  in all ramifications to be the governor of the state.

   Receiving the cheque, Chief Umeoji, who was represented at the brief ceremony by Mr.Greg Anigbogu Chukwuma, described the gesture shown to him by the  group as a big honour ,adding that the  gesture has shown  that the people of the state ,especially the youths are eager to see somebody like him on the seat of power in the state.

   Chief Umeoji, who noted that the group has carefully looked into his private lifestyle, what he could do and his pedigree and unanimously come to conclude that he was the right man to go for the job, hence the presentation of the N22million cheque to him by the youths for purchase of the Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms.

    He commended the unwavering supports, loyalty and the believe of the group in his governorship project ,stressing that he was surprised to see the young men  came out in their large numbers  to throw their weights behind him.

   He however, promised  the people that he would work relentlessly to surpass the achievements of Governor Willie Obiano in the state ,if he becomes the governor and as well, ensure that the youths are carried along in his administration, because according to him, the youths are the future leaders of any society; arguing that if well harnessed, would assist him to achieve whatever project he wants to achieve for the state.

   He advised that the people should  be allowed to elect their governor and called on the  youths of the state to eschew violence throughout the electioneering processes by embracing due process before, during and after the elections.
