CATHOLIC Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, recently paid  a pastoral visit to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka.

Bishop Ezeokafor, who made the visit on Pentecost Day, administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 112 candidates.

In his sermon, Bishop Ezeokafor said that Pentecost was a day that Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples of Christ which made them proclaim the name the Lord and spread his Gospel throughout the world.

“When we received the sacrament of baptism and sacrament of confirmation, we receive the same Holy Spirit which makes us strong as good followers of Christ. Every three years interval, pastoral visit is made by the bishop to examine the church and ensure the well being of the house of God. We pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to abide in us”.

He further commended the Cathedral Administrator, Rv. Fr Mathew Atansi for his achievement in the church alongside  other priests, Fr. Evaristus Arama and Sabastine Nwudeh, adding that 112 children have received their sacrament of confirmation.

The Awka Chief Shepherd noted that injustice is the root of disunity in Nigeria and blamed untruthfulness among leaders, urging the citizens to be more security conscious of themselves even as they continue to pray for the leaders, noting that crime and corruption is still on increase in the society.

Other clergymen present during the visit were the Chancellor of the dioceses, Fr. Francis Chidume, Manager of St. Patrick’s College, Fr. Celestine Aniekwe, Rev. Sisters, Knights of the church and their Ladies, among others.
