20-year-old Nigerian emerges best US varsity student



A 20-year-old Nigerian lady,Alaba Ann Tam Danagogo, has emerged the 2021 best student at Syracuse University, United States ( US).

 The Rivers State-born genius, who graduated with a 3.97 CGPA, attributed flexibility and resilience as the keys to her enviable success !

Alaba, who hails from Rivers State, graduated with distinctions in Biology Major and Minor in English and Textual Studies. She  was the valedictorian of the Class 2021 and was selected as a Senior Class Marshall of the university. 

Syracuse University website Source: said UGC Danagogo was recognised as a distinguished Syracuse University Scholar having graduated Summa Cu’m Laude with a 3.97 CGPA in a four-point system, a statement on the university’s website read. The Nigerian was also awarded the prestigious 1870 scholarship by the university for another four-year medical study. University hails Danagogo’s brilliance.

Speaking on her performance, the university’s dean of the School of Arts and Science, Prof. Karin Ruhlandt, hailed Danangogo as a brilliant student who exhibited a hardworking spirit and resilience. The don said that Danangogo, apart from her engagement in the classrooms, volunteered to help many organisations, adding that the Nigerian’s “independent research” is incredible.

“In addition to her academics, Alaba has volunteered at hospitals in Syracuse. She was also a student tutor and Event Coordinator for the Food Recovery Network and international student mentor at the Connection Programme in the Centre of International Services and serves as Vice-President of the Aikido Sports Club in Syracuse,” the don said.
