IHIALA Local Government Area of Anambra State was agog for Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo on Sunday, as political leaders including ward executives played host to the former CBN Governor at St. Martin Catholic Church Field, Odata Ihiala, when he came to solicit their votes for the June 23 APGA primary election.
The event, which had the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly and Member, representing Ihiala 2 State Constituency, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C.Don Adinuba, royal fathers and a host of other distinguished personalities in attendance, was an eloquent testimony that Ihiala Local Government Area has endorsed the governorship ambition of Prof.Soludo as well as declared total support for him.
The Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly in his remarks, said the event was a clear indication that Ihiala has directly endorsed Prof.Soludo for governor and that the former CBN Governor came to interface with APGA ward executives and other executives to seek their support for the forthcoming primary election of the party.
Agbodike noted that Ihiala is hopeful that Prof. Soludo would emerge victorious in the primary election and equally conquer the November 6 governorship election, stressing that Prof. Soludo will get all the votes from Ihiala Local Government Area and that Ihiala has no regrets supporting the candidacy of Prof. Soludo.
Adinuba, the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, who also is an indigene of Ihiala Local Government Area, said Prof. Soludo was the only relevant issue in the November 6 governorship election.
He maintained that Ihiala Local Government would give Prof. Soludo the highest number of votes because he was clearly the best man for the job and that he was fully prepared for it.
The Information Commissioner reiterated the fact that Prof. Soludo is most qualified to take over from the incumbent governor and that other contestants are only seeking to be noticed.
Also, the Managing Director, Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency, Emeka Okoye, who hails from Ihiala too, described the support for Soludo as overwhelming, saying that Soludo is the only person that can take Anambra State to the next level of development.
On his part, the lawmaker representing Aguata II State Constituency in the seventh legislature of Anambra State, Okechukwu Okoye said Ihiala Local Government Area was solidly behind Prof. Soludo and there is no gainsaying the fact that Soludo will be the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance for the governorship contest, adding that the APC, PDP and all other political parties will bow down for Soludo.
Responding, Prof. Soludo described the turnout at St. Martin Catholic Church, Ihiala, as massive in spite of the impromptu arrangements.
Soludo said Ihiala Local Government had not only endorsed him for the governorship position but the endorsement was one he could take to the bank, adding that it was good omen that people were convinced that he would not lose the forthcoming APGA primary election because he believes that the voice of the people is the voice of God.
