COVID-19 vaccination: Anambra, Abia lead in S’East

ANAMBRA and Abia States have been rated the best in implementation of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 in Southeast Nigeria .

  This was made known by the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib.

  He gave the rating during the COVID-19 rollout vaccination review meeting held at NCDC Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), Abia State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ABSPHCDA) premises in Umuahia, yesterday.

  According to him, apart from performing as joint best  in the Southeast in the implementation of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19, Anambra also emerged 7th best in the federation.

  He therefore extolled Gov. Willie Obiano and his Abia State counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu for partnering the agency in the campaign against the pandemic.

  Earlier, World Health Organisation (WHO) through its representative, Ogechi Chigbo, had commended Nigeria generally for the effective management and utilisation of the four million doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine she received, saying that the vaccine remains a potent tool for combating the spread of the virus.
