Re-elected Bridgehead Market embarks on electrification projects

THE NEWLY re-elected executives of Bridge Head International Market Traders Association (BHIMTA) have pledged to light up all the major intra roads in the market with solar energy electricity to aid the security operatives in securing the market.

Speaking to newsmen in a post election interview at Onitsha, the BHIMTA President General, Sunday Obinze, who was unanimously re-elected with his entire executive members for a second tenure, revealed that plans have been concluded to execute the multi-million naira electrification project within the next few weeks.

“I must appreciate the unbiased efforts made by state government through the Honourable Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Wealth creation, Hon Uchenna Okafor to restore peace in the market. I thank the entire traders for their unreserved support over the period.

“Our first assignment in this second tenure is to install solar powered street lights in major roads in the market to properly illuminate the places. We will also continue the construction of more roads leading into the market with adequate drainages”, said Obinze.

The reelected exco, who would lead the market for the next four years include: Sunday Obinze- PG, Sunday Alaagbaoso-VP I, Sylvester Molokwu-VP II, Daniel Egbeigwe-Secretary, Comrade Mike Umezulike-Asst. Sec, Emmanuel Obumso-Fin. Sec, Sunday Okoye- Treasurer, Benjamin Chukwujekwu-PRO, Mrs Ngozi Okolo-Welfare, Ichie Emma Ekwealor-Welfare II, Sunday Onwuasoanya-Provost, Mrs. Nkoli Onyeanusi- Provost II, Vitus Nwanoro-Provost III.

Moreover, Most of the leaders of the 27 registered unions that constitute the BHIMTA who adjudged the election as free and fair commended the Sunday Obinze-led executive, saying that the achievements of his administration was unprecedented since the formation of the market.
