ANAMBRA State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) has reiterated that it has not authorised collection of revenue of any sort on roads across Anambra State.

Making this known in a statement, Chairman/Chief Executive of AIRS, David Nzekwu maintained that all road taxes and levies are paid at government designated collection points  and not on roads.

Dr Nzekwu advised the general public to report any individual collecting revenue on any road in the state to the nearest police station or send the report to AIRS via WhatsApp on 07067782668 or by SMS message to 07066727750.

He expressed worry over the fact that despite the warnings of his office and continuous public enlightenment, some unscrupulous individuals in the state still engage in illegal revenue collection on the road, adding that “the illegal act is unacceptable to Anambra State Government”.

According to him, “ payment of tax by anyone is a civic responsibility and must be done in proper and orderly manner in accordance with provisions of relevant tax laws”.

Nzewi further disclosed that list of all authorized revenue collection agents in the state can be verified on AIRS website: www.airs.an.gov.ng
