Judiciary will fail Andy Uba – Onyemaechi

DEPUTY Director  of Welfare of the State Campaign Committee For All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the just concluded Anambra 2021 governorship election, Simeon Onyemaechi has advised the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Andy Uba to jettison the idea of going to court to contest the veracity and truthfulness of the governorship poll held on 6th and 9th November, 202,1 respectively, because he believes the judiciary will disappoint him.

Dr Onyemaechi, who gave the admonition in his office at Awka during an exclusive interview with our correspondent, emphasised that it would amount to an effort in futility should Sen. Andy Uba or anyone else attempt to contest the outcome of the election in court.

He therefore explained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did an unprecedented exercise in Anambra State, which he said the rest of the world saw as most credible and most transparent of all the elections conducted by the electoral umpire.

Onyemaechi said he was in the field on the election day and saw clearly what transpired, pointing out that anyone bent on rubbishing a process that is not supposed to be rubbished will have his fingers burnt and get himself rubbished in the end.

He said there was need to collectively join hands with Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for him to deliver on the manifesto that he has promised, saying that Soludo does not need any distractions but needs to hit the ground running as he mounts the saddle.

He said he was very positive that the judiciary will fail Sen. Andy Uba because he was in the field during the election and witnessed the process in Awka South Ward 3, where he said APGA had a landslide victory amidst machinations of top APC chieftains.

Onyemaechi, who also doubled as a member of the Awka South Local Government Campaign Committee for APGA in the just concluded gubernatorial election, recalled that there were several attempts by the opposition to derail and distract APGA as evident in the attempts to stop the candidacy of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo through the courts, even as he believed that Soludo was the will of God for the people of Anambra State.

He said Soludo ran for the governorship seat in 2010 but didn’t succeed. That in 2013, Soludo made another trial but still didn’t scale through but according to him, his 2021 electoral conquest was an idea whose time has come, while urging those nursing the ambition to seek redress in court regarding conduct of the just concluded governorship election in the state to forget about it because it would be an exercise in fiasco.

Onyemaechi also hailed the woman who was intrepid enough to reject an alleged N5000 bribe at a polling unit for her to vote for APC and against her conscience during the governorship poll.

Onyemaechi said,   ”  these were the kind of things that led the woman at Ukwulu on November 6 to reject N5000 that was given to her to vote for APC but insisted on voting Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo who she believes in good conscience was the only candidate on the ballot that day that would give ndi Anambra a prosperous and livable homeland.”

Although he pointed out also that a lot of people bragged on how they would write results of the election, but according to him,  nemesis caught up with them and luck failed them woefully.

He, therefore, commended President Mohammadu Buhari for charging INEC and security agencies to go to Anambra State and do the right thing, while congratulating the citizens who maintained that Anambra is not Imo and that Anambra has standards it stands for and represents.
