IT WAS a happy moment for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) faithful in Onitsha North Local Government Area on Sunday as they converged in large numbers to offer thanksgiving to God for victory at the just-concluded Anambra Governorship elections.

The event was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church inland Town, Onitsha and attended by many prominent members of the party, in the LGA led by Transition Committee Chairman, Onitsha North, Mr Patrick Agha Mba who paid glowing tribute to members and thanked God for the victory.

He committed the life of the Governor-elect, Prof. Charles Soludo to God for a successful tenure, urging God to bless him and his would-be cabinet, wisdom and knowledge.

The chairman noted that Onitsha was important to the government of Soludo for what the city stood for in the economy of Anambra State and it ought to be accorded priorities in infrastructure.

During a Sermon, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Johnbosco Okafor said that the day called for the entire Church to be thankful to God for peaceful and successful elections.

He pointed out some of the good works of Gov. Willie Obiano during his tenure, including the delivery of the Anambra International and Passenger Airport, Umueri, describing it as timely, classy and of international standards that ndi Anambra should be proud of.

Speaking to Journalists after the Mass, Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Nnamdi Onukwuba described Prof. Soludo as a great technocrat with a clear manifesto.

Mr Onukwuba said: “Onitsha is APGA and APGA is Onitsha. Onitsha stands with APGA at all time”.

The residents say they will hold the Governor-elect to promises he has committed to: “if you build Onitsha, you have built Anambra State”.

Onitsha North APGA Chairman Mr Martin Obika said: “I know Soludo as a humble; God fearing man and a man of his words who I believe will lead by example”.
