UNIDENTIFIED Gunmen reportedly stormed the ThisDay Newspaper Abuja office in Utako, yesterday and threatened to kill staff.
Eyewitness reports reveal that the gunmen gained access to the building through the fence around 3 a.m.
According to the newspaper, “although the mission of the armed men, who arrived the premises at about 3.am Thursday has yet to be ascertained, the company’s private security men, who were on duty, said that as soon as the gunmen pushed their way into the office of the newspaper they started maltreating the production staffer, and threatened to “kill all of them if they attempted to alert policemen.”
However, the gunmen left after “about 45 minutes of frightening operation”, but vowed to come back soon.
The matter has been reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, in Utako, Abuja.
Similarly, gunmen numbering about 10 yesterday attacked a bullion van carrying Policemen on Specie Escort who were conveying cash from Asaba to Warri in Delta State.
The incident is said to have occurred at about 10:45 am along the Ughelli-Ozoro Expressway.
