Police target illegal users of siren in Oyo

OYO Police Command has commenced enforcement of the ban on unauthorised use of sirens, spy numbers of plates, covered number plates, right-hand drive and unregistered vehicles.

  The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko, made this known in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, on Monday in Ibadan.

  Mrs Onadeko said that other violators to be similarly sanctioned are users of spy number plates and right-hand drive vehicles.

  The statement states that the enforcement of laws banning the unlawful use of sirens, revolving lights, flashers, unregistered vehicle number plates, covered number plates, spy number plates by motorists and other road users will begin immediately to instill safety and sanity on all public highways and other roads throughout Oyo State.

  The statement noted that the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State, has directed total enforcement by all area commanders, divisional police officers, state traffic officers and divisional traffic officers in conjunction with the federal road safety corps, Oyo State command.

  The CP said that a Special Joint Traffic Enforcement Task Force, comprising of the Police and Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Oyo State Command, had been commissioned for this purpose.

  It implores members of the public to continue to be law-abiding and cooperate with the task force team in ridding the state of all forms of traffic offences.
