In Anambra, police decorate 83 newly promoted officers



HISTORY was made on Tuesday as  the police in Anambra State command decorated about 83 newly promoted police officers with insignias of their new ranks.

   The decoration, made by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng Echeng, which took place at the command’s headquarters in Awka, followed the recent approval for promotion of officers of the force by the Police Service Commission.

Among the newly-promoted police officers were one Superintendent of Police, who was promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, 15 Deputy Superintendents of Police elevated to the rank of Superintendent of Police and 67 Assistant Superintendents of Police with two promoted to Assistant Superintendents of Police 1.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Echeng congratulated the beneficiaries on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman.

CP Echeng urged the newly promoted officers to redouble their efforts towards fighting crimes and exhibiting high professionalism, civility to members of the public and respect for human rights to ensure that lives and property of ndi Anambra are protected.

He added that the promotion is in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s resolve towards boosting the morale of police officers for effective service delivery, stating that the promotion comes with greater responsibility, dedication and discipline in their duty posts.

Some of the newly promoted police officers, SP Stephen Ewa, SP Joy Yusuf, ASP Mike Ugwu, appreciated the IGP and the Police Service Commission for finding them worthy of this promotion and also promised to redouble their efforts in discharging their duties professionally.
