NO fewer than seven people were killed in three communities of Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following another terrorists attack.
The affected communities are Zaman Dabo, Chibob and Sabon Kaura.
Residents said the terrorists stormed the communities in a well-coordinated attack, burning more than half of the houses – shooting sporadically and destroying properties.
Among the seven people who were killed, one person was also burnt while remaining six persons were shot dead during a stampede that ensued among residents who were fleeing from their fully armed attackers.
Eyewitnesses also said the terrorists took advantage of absence of soldiers in the early hours of the day at a checkpoint between Ungwan Wakili and Abuyab to destroy the only bridge that linked the two communities.
It will be recalled that communities in the Zango Kataf Local Government Area have been under attack since last year, leading to loss of many lives properties.
Efforts to obtain Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna State, Mohammed’s comment as of time of filling this report were not fruitful.
Similarly, a lone bandit terrorising Mmahu Egbema communiyt, Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo shot eight persons to death.
A resident of the community said they were shot dead by a bandit who escaped from Imo Correctional Centre before he stormed the community from a nearby bush and started shooting sporadically during which he killed eight people.
Confirming the incident, Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Michael Abatham said that the command “is aware of the incident.”
Also, gunmen attacked Magamar Jibia town in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ahmed A. Rano and a soldier, yesterday.
Eyewitnesses said Rano had led a reinforcement to repel the bandits when they ambushed and killed him and the military personnel.
But a resident, who gave his name as Muhammad Aminu said the gunmen also injured a senior military officer who residents know as Col. Masoyi and abducted an unspecified number of people in the attack.
“During the incursion, they ambushed and opened fire on the car which was conveying the DPO of Jibia, along with another Soldier. Col. Masoyi was shot in his thigh and he is currently receiving treatment,” Aminu said.
Police Public Relations Officer in Katsina State, Gambo Isah, confirmed the attack in a post on his social media platforms.
In another development, suspected kidnappers killed two persons, one Zacheaus Olotu and his labourer, in Molege, Ose Local Government Area (L.G.A), Ondo State.
Zacchaeus, his wife and their labourer were on their way to their farm when they were abducted between Ifon and Molege towns of the L.G.A. His wife was later released to apparently to source money for his ransom. But Zacheaus and his labourer’s corpses were later found during a search by security operatives.
